Chapter 7
Eleni wandered aimlessly around the boat, trying to steer her mind toward her abandoned projects rather than the attractive man she had left lying in bed. The first thing she could think about was the missile guiding system. She had almost completed it when her work had been so excitingly interrupted. The only details left were what constituted the Nikodemus touch that would make her work go beyond adequate and reach the level of excellence. It was uncomfortable to realize that this time those touches were not able to keep her mind occupied. Her latest project was now linked to indelibly David Obermann, the man hired to steal her work before he had been hired to protect her.
She walked up on the deck. The midday sun was shining brightly over the Mediteranean. It set her skin on fire and burned her eyes, but she ignored it. She propped her elbows on the edge of the deck, staring unseeingly at the sparkling sea. Yet all the light of the sun mirrored in the boundless sea could not free Eleni's mind from the dark. The threat to her life, the monster who was behind it was the most prominent among all the shadows.
